WHO QUALIFIES


If you or a loved one is homebound and unable to cook or shop for food, or if preparing meals has simply become too difficult for you, Meals on Wheels may be the answer. We serve individuals in all income levels. Many customers receive meals on a long-term basis; others use our meal service temporarily while recovering from a medical condition. 


THE MEAL 


Our chef plans delicious, low-salt, heart-healthy meals under the supervision of the Allegheny County Health Department. Meals are prepared at Saint Edward's Church in Blawnox. We serve a bag lunch that includes milk, fruit, bread, salad, sandwich, and juice. The typical hot meal contains an entrée, starch and vegetable.  For example,  meat loaf, mashed potatoes, and green beans. A hot homemade soup is also provided every day. Some special dietary requirements may be accommodated. An optional free dessert, donated by our volunteer bakers, is available upon request. 

COST 

The price is $7.75 per day total for the cold ($3.75) and hot ($4.00) meal. Meals are delivered five days per week, including holidays which fall within Monday through Friday, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.
